1987 - 1992 NeXT Computer Incorporated

In 1987, after graduating from SJSU, I took my first full-time position at NeXT. I was hired to work on Illustration and Interface Design for the NeXT Interface. In order to do this I learned to program on the NeXT. In addition to designing most of the interface, I wrote applications and objects to enhance the interface.   Here are two screen shots of the first version off the NeXTSTEP interface from 1988.

I've created tons of icons for NeXTSTEP over the years. You can scroll through some of them here.

 

 

All of these icons were created in Pixelist. The image editing/compositing program I wrote for NeXTSTEP. I still use it today to edit icons for the interface designs I create.

In addition to an image editing application, I wrote an animation program, a screen saver, a calculator, a screen capture application, a TV compositing application, and a few others. I also prototyped many of the application user-interface objects. The object I was most pleased with was the color panel - I wanted to create a system color panel that was powerful enough to use in all applications.
